what other steps should the city take to make pension and health care benefits for city workers more sustainable? mr. everett, miss olague and miss selby? >> i have been engaged on this issue as a community service, i host a radio and tv program called "folk law for ordinary folk," it's a very tough one in the sense that workers at some point are essentially giving up higher salary and higher pay in exchange for those pension benefits. so to come back later on and essentially cut that out from under them, the question is one of fairness and of equity. that being said, as far as police and firefighters, obviously those are public safety areas and it's a little bit different in the sense that we definitely need to protect those pensions in a different manner than we do others. as far as other ways to save, i would certainly look at capping pensions moving forward, so that they don't increase incrementally over time. i think we need to put a cap on that now before it starts to burgeon and get out of control. >> thank you. >> miss olague. >> i believe i was one of the individuals who ans

i do think things are changing at city hall and with city government generally. in the last budget process, we read able to get a full-time person in the office of economic and workforce development who will focus exclusively on nightlife and entertainment. that is a huge step with the positives of the industry. i would have worked very closely with supervisor chiu to get a budget for the entertainment commission. at times, the entertainment commission has been set up to fail because we expect all sorts of enforcement and make sure that people are cracking down on the rules, but we have not committed the resources necessary to do so. we are slowly doing that to make sure that they can meet their mission. and the of all special use district that i mentioned before, i think we lost -- we will finally start seeing some reform there. we have a lot more work to do. i recently asked the economist to supplement the impact study for the night live with a similar study for outdoor fairs and festivals, which we know contribute mightily to our economy. i'm very committed to

really needs to come forward especially when there's such an unequal application in the laws in this city. thanks. speaker: i'm not sure i heard it right about sixty-seven thirty-four -- oh it's back on. okay. there are two provisions of sixty-seven thirty-four one which defines official misconduct and one which discusses willing violations of the law. the official misconduct provision talks about a willful failure of any elected official and so forth to discharge a duty imposed by the ordinance of the act. there are actually sixteen places in the city charter where there can be a finding of official misconduct. there's this one plus fifteen others. at some point you are going to need regulations on how to handle that. admittingly the charter provisions are a mess. once you move away from what the mayor can do and the mayor cannot do but you still need the regulations. the other problems i have obviously the artificial statute of limitations one year from the date the records were asked for. it makes no sense and i think it's probably too restrictive to stand up to the constitutional requ

it is really about making the best deal we can for the city. or at least the deal that, at least on its face, doesn't look as bad as this one does. you know, i want to work with the mta. i'm just -- i'm just not there. part of the challenge -- i don't mean disrespect to the individual who's spoke, they are trying to do their job, but the question whether or not we have done our due diligence in looking at all the options available, i think that there is a role for brokers to play in these deals. i don't necessarily think that the brokerage is the best person to make that case, you know. i think there has to be an independent third party analysis on that. again, no disrespect to individuals. they are professionals, trying to do their work. but i think there has to be a separation in terms of the different roles. when someone is close to a deal, even the best possible, the analysis on the question of surveying all options should be done by someone else. so that's part of the challenge i have. my concerns remain. >> thank you, supervisor. supervis
